The University of Makran was established in 2020. The Department of Botany was started while the department has developed a large and productive research and teaching group in the field of plant sciences. The broad scope of opening the Department of Botany is a comprehensive academic discipline that encompasses diverse areas of the subject. The department is committed to delivering science that translates basic knowledge to address some of the pressing global challenges currently facing society. Plants are central to developing solutions to those problems and we all depend on plants for our existence.
Currently, the department has well-furnished classrooms and a laboratory to fulfill the academic requirements of undergraduate and graduate students. Department has BS programs yet, In the coming future, the department will introduce MS, and Ph.D. degrees. Faculty members are dedicated specialists in their fields of research and teaching to produce scholars having professional competence as well as lifetime moral ethics. Faculty members have done research work in many specialized fields of Plant sciences such as Plant tissue culture, Bioinformatics, Plant ecology, Plant Physiology, Plant taxonomy, Ethnomedicinal studies, Molecular Biology, Plant genetics, Environmental Sciences, and Biodiversity and Conservation. During a short period, the department has completed research projects with the support of national funding organizations and several research projects are in progress.
The department is planning to strengthen the Botanical garden, Herbarium, Plant tissue Culture laboratory, and Hydrobonic laboratory which will help to provide variety of services to the local community and will build a base for our department at the national and International levels for reseaech.

Department of Botany prepares students to analyze economic problems systematically, objectively and to come up with the practical economic solutions. It seeks to equip students for a wide range of roles in the private as well as public sector. The primary goal is to produce highly competent professional by offering quality education through its academic program.
Continuous efforts are being made to realize this goal by providing a unique learning environment in which the faculty and the students share their responsibilities for promoting the process of learning.
The study program offered by the department develops not only the habit for working long hours but also inculcates the habit of applying mind for solving economics affairs. The mental strength that comes from a rigorous and demanding academic program, prepares the students for performing intellectual tasks maintaining high standard. The students are given project and research work to encourage them to gain experience of working and learning in the real world setting.
